All Paws Safe Haven
A New ChapterLearn how we have expanded our efforts to help rescue strays in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Blytheville, Arkansas
The City That Changed Everything
I received a message from a rescue acquaintance about a dog in the Blytheville Humane Society that needed help. A young mom and her 8 week old puppies were just dropped off and the puppies were moved immediately to foster, leaving this scared mom alone in a kennel. She exhibited signs of stress and aggression. The staff deemed her unadoptable and she was set for euthanasia.
Fortunately, there are a few volunteers down there who saw this sweet dog’s potential.
We rescued Lucy and her four puppies and brought them up to STL where they are now all adopted and thriving.
This interaction created a beautiful relationship with us and the dog loving-volunteers in Blytheville. We learned about all the strays, lack of resources, and lack of manpower and knew we were called to help.
After receiving a call about puppies stuck in an abandoned house, we drove down ourselves to help. We met these angels we have been in touch with in person and saw first hand the need for our help.
Stray dogs wander the streets dodging traffic, fighting for food, and seeking shelter in abandoned, dilapidated houses. A bunch of unfixed adults running around results in puppies who turn into adults and the cycle continues.
This is a group effort. We work with some wonderful people who are doing hands on work to help these dogs. We have made multiple trips down to help, and plans to head back regularly. Our goal is to get the strays off the street, and to educate the neighborhood about what we are doing and how they can help.
There is so much potential in this little town. A town we now call a second home.
